Best GoldFolio Alternatives (2026)

Quick answer

The best GoldFolio alternative depends on what you're missing: Nu Stack if you want a web app on any device plus a melt calculator, receipts and alerts; Precious Metals Manager for deeper analysis and tax reports on iPhone, iPad and Mac; Gold Tracker for the Apple ecosystem; BullionTally for an offline-first tracker on iOS and Android; and Stack Heavy for free calculators and dealer premiums. GoldFolio itself stays a good, simple tracker, especially if you hold copper.

Prices as of November 2, 2026: gold $3,943/oz, silver $50.50/oz. Updated automatically.

GoldFolio is a solid holdings tracker. It's clean, it has no ads, and it covers five metals. People still go looking for something else, usually for one of four reasons: they want it on Windows or a Chromebook, they want price alerts, they buy scrap and need a calculator, or they want more detail (sales, taxes, premiums) than a holdings list gives them.

Here are six alternatives and which of those gaps each one fills. We read every app's store pages and website on October 19, 2026; features are as the developers describe them, and prices and ratings change. Nu Stack is our app.

What GoldFolio Does Well

So you know what you'd be giving up:

  • Simple holdings list with quantity, weight, type, photo and purchase price, valued at live spot with profit or loss.
  • Five metals: gold, silver, platinum, palladium and copper.
  • iPhone and Android apps with widgets and price history from one day to five years, and an App Store privacy label of "Data Not Collected".
  • Price: free, with Pro at $3.99 a month or $33.49 a year. Bulk upload and export are Premium since its April 2026 update.

If that's all you need, you may not need an alternative. If not, read on. For a feature-by-feature look, see Nu Stack vs GoldFolio.

Nu Stack: for any computer, alerts and buying

Nu Stack (nustack.app) runs in any browser and installs to your home screen, so the same account works on Windows, Chromebook, Mac, iPhone and Android.

What you get beyond a holdings list:

  • A melt and scrap calculator for 8K–24K gold and silver grades, with XRF purity, buy rate and refinery payout. At today's $3,943/oz, a gram of 14K is about $73.95 in melt.
  • Coin Portfolio and coin values from a built-in database at live spot (browse coin melt values), plus AI Coin ID from a photo (beta).
  • Email price alerts: 1 on Basic, 10 on Stacker, unlimited on Pro.
  • Purchase records with fees, shipping and insurance in the cost basis, PDF receipts with signature, CSV and Excel export.
  • Price: Free plan (prices, calculator, coin lookup; no saving), Basic $1.99, Stacker $4.99, Pro $9.99, Business $39 a month, with a 14-day Pro trial.

Trade-offs: no App Store or Google Play listing today, and prices and holdings focus on gold and silver, so it's not the pick for a copper or platinum stack.

Precious Metals Manager: for depth and taxes

The most detailed tracker we found: orders, items and sales with photos and documents, 300+ prefilled coin and bullion profiles, dollar-cost averaging, average premium, realized profit and annual tax reports, with spot prices in several currencies.

  • iPhone, iPad and Mac. Free for up to 10 items and 3 orders; Pro $3.49 a month or $29.99 a year on the App Store.
  • No account, no ads, no tracking; iCloud backup; CSV and JSON import and export. Price and ratio alerts in Pro, per its website.
  • 4.4 from 87 ratings (Oct 19, 2026).

Trade-off: Apple only. See Nu Stack vs Precious Metals Manager.

Gold Tracker (Hearn Apps): for Apple everything

Live prices for four metals in 150+ currencies on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Apple TV, a "Vault" for purchases and sales, and calculators (its release notes mention iCloud sync). Free, with a $6.99 widgets purchase; 4.8 from 1.6K ratings (Oct 19, 2026).

Trade-off: no Android.

BullionTally: for offline-first tracking

BullionTally tracks gold, silver, platinum and palladium (its release notes add copper) on iPhone and Android. An account is optional and it works offline; create one and you get cloud backup and sync. Pro is $2.99 a month, $29.99 a year or $299.99 lifetime on the App Store.

Trade-off: it's new, with only a handful of ratings so far (Oct 19, 2026).

Stack Heavy: for free calculators and premiums

Stack Heavy is free on iPhone and Android with "no paywalls, no subscriptions". It shows spot prices for five metals, compares dealer premiums daily, and has junk silver, scrap gold and premium-over-spot calculators.

Trade-off: it's a toolkit, not a portfolio tracker. Pair it with a tracker if you want your holdings totaled.

APMEX app: if you buy from APMEX

Free on iPhone and Android, with the full APMEX catalog, live spot charts, customizable market alerts, news, order history and a portfolio tool that values your holdings. 4.9 from 65K ratings on iOS (Oct 19, 2026).

Trade-off: it's built around one dealer's store.

Frequently asked questions

Is GoldFolio free?

GoldFolio has a free version, and its App Store page lists Pro at $3.99 a month or $33.49 a year (October 2026). Its April 2026 update moved bulk upload and export into Premium.

What is a GoldFolio alternative that works on Windows or a Chromebook?

Nu Stack runs in any browser, so it works on Windows, Chromebook, Mac, iPhone and Android with one account. Precious Metals Manager has a Mac version through the Mac App Store; the other apps here are phone and tablet apps, some of which also run on Apple Silicon Macs.

Which GoldFolio alternative has price alerts?

Nu Stack has email price alerts from the Basic plan up, Precious Metals Manager lists price and ratio alerts in Pro on its website, and the APMEX, JM Bullion and Kitco apps have market alerts. GoldFolio's store pages don't list alerts.

Is there a GoldFolio alternative with a scrap gold calculator?

Yes. Nu Stack's calculator handles 8K to 24K gold and silver grades with buy rate and refinery payout, and Stack Heavy includes scrap gold and junk silver melt calculators.

Can I move my GoldFolio holdings to another app?

GoldFolio exports to CSV (a Premium feature since April 2026) and imports CSV or Excel files. Apps with CSV import, such as Nu Stack (Stacker plan and up) and Precious Metals Manager, can take that file, though you may need to match the column names.
