Best Precious Metals Portfolio Tracker Apps (2026)

Quick answer

There's no single best precious metals tracker: GoldFolio is the simplest holdings tracker on iPhone and Android, Precious Metals Manager has the deepest analysis and tax features on Apple devices, Gold Tracker suits the Apple ecosystem, and the Kitco, APMEX and JM Bullion apps are mainly for prices, alerts and buying. Nu Stack is the pick if you also buy scrap or want one web app on every device, with a melt calculator, receipts and coin values at live spot ($3,943/oz gold, $50.50/oz silver today).

Prices as of November 2, 2026: gold $3,943/oz, silver $50.50/oz. Updated automatically.

Your stack is in a safe. Your receipts are in a shoebox. And the number you'd quote someone for what it's all worth is a guess.

A portfolio tracker fixes that: list what you own, what you paid, and see it valued at live spot. The catch is that "tracker apps" range from a simple holdings list to a dealer's shopping app that includes a portfolio tool. This guide compares seven of them by what they actually do.

How we compared: we read each app's App Store page, Google Play page and website on October 19, 2026. Features are as each developer describes them; we didn't buy competitors' paid tiers. Ratings and prices change, so check the store before you download. Nu Stack is our app, and we've tried to be straight about where others do something better.

GoldFolio

GoldFolio (goldfolio.app) is a holdings tracker for physical metal. You add each item with quantity, weight, type, a photo and what you paid, and it shows total value and profit or loss at live spot. It covers gold, silver, platinum, palladium and copper, and has home-screen widgets and price history from one day to five years.

  • Platforms and price: iPhone and Android. Free, with Pro at $3.99 a month or $33.49 a year on the App Store. Its April 2026 update put bulk upload, export and a few other tools in Premium; the release notes say the free version "remains fully functional" for everyday use.
  • Ratings (Oct 19, 2026): 4.1 from 33 ratings on iOS; 4.2 from 121 reviews and 10K+ downloads on Google Play.
  • Worth knowing: Apple's privacy label says "Data Not Collected". Price alerts and a scrap calculator aren't mentioned on its store pages.

Best for: someone who holds metal (copper included) and wants a simple, ad-free list with a total. We compared it head to head in Nu Stack vs GoldFolio, and listed other options in GoldFolio alternatives.

Precious Metals Manager

Precious Metals Manager is the most detailed tracker here. It records orders, items and sales with photos and documents, comes with 300+ prefilled coin and bullion profiles, and reports dollar-cost averaging, average premium, realized profit and annual tax figures. Spot prices come in several currencies (including BTC and ETH), with charts, widgets and the gold/silver ratio.

  • Platforms and price: iPhone, iPad and Mac (its website says iPhone and iPad). No Android or web version that we found. Free for up to 10 items and 3 orders; Pro is $3.49 a month or $29.99 a year on the App Store (the website lists $2.99 a month).
  • Privacy: no account, no ads, no tracking; data backs up to iCloud, with CSV and JSON import and export.
  • Alerts: price and ratio alerts in Pro, per its website.
  • Rating (Oct 19, 2026): 4.4 from 87 ratings on the App Store.

Best for: an Apple user who wants serious bookkeeping for a bullion stack and prefers data that stays on their own devices. See Nu Stack vs Precious Metals Manager.

Gold Tracker (Hearn Apps)

Gold Tracker: Live Spot Price has been on the App Store for years and shows live gold, silver, platinum and palladium prices in 150+ currencies. Its "Vault" logs purchases and sales for portfolio tracking, and it includes calculators. Its release notes mention iCloud sync.

  • Platforms and price: iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Apple TV. Free, with a $6.99 "Price Widgets" purchase.
  • Rating (Oct 19, 2026): 4.8 from 1.6K ratings.

Best for: Apple users who want spot prices everywhere (watch, TV, widgets) with a basic vault.

Kitco Gold Live!

Kitco's app is a market-data app first: quotes and charts for gold, silver, platinum, palladium and rhodium plus base metals, the London Fix, the Kitco Gold Index, a watch list, widgets, customizable market alerts and Kitco News video. Its store pages don't describe a holdings tracker.

  • Platforms and price: iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android. Free; the Android listing says it contains ads.
  • Ratings (Oct 19, 2026): 4.8 from 8.4K ratings on iOS; 3.6 from 5.28K reviews and 1M+ downloads on Google Play.

Best for: following prices and news, alongside a separate tracker.

APMEX and JM Bullion

Both big online dealers have free apps built around their stores: browse the catalog, buy, track orders, watch live spot charts and set price alerts. APMEX's app also has a portfolio tool that shows the value of holdings; JM Bullion's store pages don't describe one.

  • APMEX (Oct 19, 2026): iPhone and Android; 4.9 from 65K ratings on iOS, 4.8 from 26.2K reviews on Google Play.
  • JM Bullion (Oct 19, 2026): iPhone and Android; 4.8 from 29K ratings on iOS, 4.4 from 8.34K reviews on Google Play.

Best for: customers who buy from that dealer and want alerts and order tracking in the same place.

Nu Stack

Nu Stack (nustack.app) is a web app: it runs in any browser and can be added to your home screen, so the same account works on a phone at the coin shop and a laptop at home. It started as a scrap gold calculator, so it covers the buying side that pure trackers skip.

  • Holdings and coins: every purchase with cost basis (fees, shipping and insurance included), status and profit, plus a Coin Portfolio valued from a built-in coin database at live spot. See coin melt values for what that database covers.
  • Buying tools: a melt and scrap calculator (8K–24K gold, silver grades, XRF purity, buy rate, refinery payout), PDF receipts with signature, and AI Coin ID from a photo (beta).
  • Alerts and exports: email price alerts (1 on Basic, 10 on Stacker, unlimited on Pro), CSV and Excel export, bulk import from Stacker up.
  • Price: Free (live prices, calculator, coin lookup; no saving), Basic $1.99, Stacker $4.99, Pro $9.99 and Business $39 a month. New accounts get a 14-day Pro trial.
  • Limits: no App Store or Google Play listing today, and prices and melt values focus on gold and silver. If you hold a lot of platinum, palladium or copper, GoldFolio or Precious Metals Manager covers those.

Best for: people who buy as well as hold (scrap, coins, estate lots) and want the calculator, receipts and portfolio in one place on every device.

How to Choose

Ask where you'll use it. Only on an iPhone? Every app here works. Android, or a Windows or Chromebook computer? A web app matters more than any single feature.

Ask what you need to record. A list of coins and bars is easy everywhere. Fees, shipping, sales, tax reports and seller receipts narrow the field fast.

Ask what you'll do next. Holders want a total and a chart. Buyers need melt value before they make an offer: one gram of 14K is worth about $73.95 at today's spot, and a calculator beats mental math at the counter. Try our free scrap gold calculator or read how to track your precious metals portfolio.

Most of these apps are free to start. Load ten of your own items into two of them and keep the one you actually open.

Sources (checked October 19, 2026): each app's Apple App Store and Google Play listing and the developers' websites (goldfolio.app, preciousmetalsmanager.com). Prices and ratings are as listed that day.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best app to track a gold and silver stack?

For a simple holdings list on iPhone or Android, GoldFolio. For detailed analysis, tax reports and private on-device data on Apple devices, Precious Metals Manager. For a web app that also covers buying (melt calculator, receipts, coin values) on any device, Nu Stack.

Is there a free precious metals portfolio tracker?

Yes. GoldFolio, Precious Metals Manager and Gold Tracker have free versions with paid upgrades, and the dealer apps from APMEX and JM Bullion are free. Nu Stack's Free plan has live prices, the calculator and coin lookup; saving holdings starts with Basic at $1.99 a month.

Which precious metals tracker works on Windows or a Chromebook?

Nu Stack runs in any browser, so it works the same on Windows, Chromebook, Mac, phone and tablet. Several iPhone apps on this list, including GoldFolio and Precious Metals Manager, can also run on Apple Silicon Macs through the Mac App Store, but none of the others lists a Windows or web version.

Do these apps track platinum and palladium?

GoldFolio and Precious Metals Manager track gold, silver, platinum, palladium and copper, and Gold Tracker covers gold, silver, platinum and palladium. Nu Stack's prices, calculator and holdings focus on gold and silver.

Can a portfolio tracker tell me when to buy or sell?

No app on this list should be read as investment advice. They show prices, charts and what your metal is worth; the decision is yours.
